Akwa Ibom Governor Engages Marketers for Fuel Subsidy Palliatives
In his Democracy Day message, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State revealed his plans to hold meetings with petroleum product marketers in the state. The aim of these discussions is to effectively implement the proposed palliative measures for the removal of fuel subsidy and alleviate the challenges faced by the people.

The governor's message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, expressed his congratulations to Nigerians, particularly the people of Akwa Ibom, for their resilience in strengthening democratic principles and traditions.

Governor Umo Eno emphasised the importance of engaging with relevant stakeholders, specifically petroleum products marketers, to find ways to ensure that the planned palliatives effectively mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. The governor acknowledged the significant role played by the late MKO Abiola, a symbol of Nigeria's democratic struggle, whose sacrifice paved the way for the growth of democracy in the country. He also highlighted the involvement of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR) in the struggle and echoed the president's call for sacrifice from Nigerians as the issues surrounding the fuel subsidy removal are being addressed.

Expressing his appreciation, Governor Umo Eno commended the people of Akwa Ibom State for their commitment to upholding the noble ideals of democracy. He acknowledged their contribution to the continuity of good governance through the implementation of the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda.

As the governor prepares to engage with petroleum product marketers, it is expected that constructive discussions will take place to ensure the effective application of the planned palliatives. The focus will be on alleviating the potential challenges that may arise from the removal of the fuel subsidy and finding sustainable solutions to cushion the effects on the people of Akwa Ibom State.
