Governor Umaru Bago Frees 80 Inmates, Ensuring Swift Release
Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has shown compassion by pardoning 80 inmates in various correctional centres, allowing them to reunite with their families. The decision, announced by Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government, is in commemoration of the 2023 Democracy Day.

The release of these inmates was recommended by the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, taking into consideration factors such as old age, ill health, and good behaviour. The governor urges the pardoned inmates to make good use of this opportunity and avoid engaging in activities that could land them back in prison.

Furthermore, the Secretary to the State Government calls upon the people of Niger to reflect on their individual roles in promoting peace and supporting good governance during this period. It is a time to contemplate the ways in which each citizen can contribute to the progress and well-being of the state.

Governor Bago's administration is committed to ensuring that the dividends of democracy are experienced in every corner of the state. This decision to grant pardons demonstrates the government's dedication to fairness, justice, and rehabilitation.

Additionally, the state government is deeply concerned about the security challenges facing Niger State and is fully prepared to address them effectively. Measures are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.

Through these actions, the government of Niger State aims to promote a more inclusive society, where individuals are given a chance to reintegrate into their communities and contribute positively to the state's development.
