Governor Makinde Seeks Legislative Support for Oyo State's Progress
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on the 32 members of the 10th session of the Oyo State House of Assembly to collaborate with his administration in bringing about sustainable development in the state.

The governor made this appeal during the inauguration of the Assembly, where the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, were re-elected. Governor Makinde expressed confidence in the legislative arm's cooperation with his administration in delivering good governance and congratulated both the re-elected and newly-elected members of the Assembly.

Highlighting the turnover rate in the 10th Assembly, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of swift learning by the lawmakers. He called on them to work hand in hand with his administration to achieve the goal of providing 24/7 electricity to the residents of Oyo State. The governor noted that the recent signing of the Electricity Bill into Law by President Bola Tinubu was a significant achievement during his trips to Abuja. He also emphasized the need for cooperation in improving the education sector, infrastructure development, and enhancing the lives of the residents.

Governor Makinde stated, "Our expectation is that when we present our budgets, they will be passed in good time. I ask that you work with us in to continue infrastructural development." He further highlighted the administration's commitment to allocate 20% of the budget to education and to reintegrate 20% of out-of-school children into classrooms. The governor also emphasized the administration's plans to extract value from moribund assets, complete the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road, and transform the Dugbe Business District in Akinyele Local Government Area.

The governor sought the support of the House members in achieving these deliverables for the benefit of the people of Oyo State. He called for collaboration in making Oyo State the first state in Nigeria to provide round-the-clock electricity supply. Governor Makinde shared the administration's plan to partner with the private sector for large-scale energy provision, which is already underway with the presentation of the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill to the 9th Assembly.

Governor Makinde also highlighted the administration's focus on improving the environment. He revealed plans to establish the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socioeconomic Development (OMASED) to address waste management, market sanitization, and urban development. The governor urged the legislators to deliberate on this proposal in a timely manner to ensure its effective implementation.

In response, Speaker Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin commended Governor Makinde for his exemplary governance and pledged to cooperate with all stakeholders to elevate the state and strengthen the position of the Assembly. The members of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly expressed their commitment to working closely with the executive and other stakeholders to achieve the development goals of the state.
