The suspected burglars, identified as Abeh Abu, 25, and Isaac John, 19, both hailing from Plateau State, were caught in the act while attempting to sell stolen home appliances. The recovered items included a television set, a DVD player, and a mattress.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Mr Abu had also confessed to stealing a motorcycle earlier in the year, which he subsequently sold to an accomplice involved in the purchase of stolen goods in Ondo State. Acting on this information, the Osun Amotekun operatives accompanied the suspects to Ondo State, where their accomplice, One Abah Bello, was arrested. Bello, who had been on the wanted list of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, was handed over to the authorities.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old suspected cultist was apprehended in Ilesa during a routine patrol conducted by Amotekun operatives. The suspect, along with two others, was riding a motorcycle when they were stopped. While the other individuals managed to escape, the suspect was found in possession of an axe and admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
All three suspects have been transferred to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
Brig-Gen. Adewinmbi took the opportunity to urge residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and promptly report any criminal activities or suspicious incidents to the appropriate security agencies. He emphasized that maintaining security should not be solely the responsibility of law enforcement personnel, but a collective effort involving the cooperation of the community. By working together, the aim is to effectively combat crime and safeguard the lives and property of the residents.
