Osun Governor Launches Staff Audit to Fill Vacancies
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has initiated a comprehensive staff audit across the state public service. The audit commenced with the biometric capture of the Governor, Deputy Governor, and the Speaker of the House of Assembly. In a statement by the Governor's media aide, Olawale Rasheed, it was revealed that the data capturing followed a closed-door meeting with state labor leaders to ensure the protection and fulfillment of the interests of all stakeholders.

Governor Ademola emphasized that the staff audit is not intended to be a witch-hunt but rather a proactive measure to address existing vacancies in crucial sectors such as education and health. The Governor stated, "Our administration prioritizes the welfare of workers and other stakeholders, and we will not take any action that adversely affects formal and informal workers."

The audit aims to achieve several objectives, including streamlining the payroll system, verifying the actual number of employees in the state workforce, and identifying areas with vacancies across various sectors of the public service. Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of authenticating workforce data and confirming existing vacancies to enable data-driven management of the public service.

In particular, the Governor highlighted the need to assess the demand for teachers in schools. The compilation of vacancies for teachers and health workers is near completion, with the outcome expected to provide valuable insights into the required number and specialization of teachers in different subjects. This data-driven approach will help identify schools that require specific types of teachers, including those specializing in science, English, mathematics, social science, and other disciplines.

Governor Adeleke reiterated his commitment to transparent and efficient governance, where the interests of workers and the overall development of the state are paramount. The staff audit is seen as a proactive step towards optimizing the public service, addressing vacancies, and ensuring that qualified personnel are appointed to key positions within the education and health sectors, among others.

The Governor urged all stakeholders to support the staff audit process, which will contribute to a more effective and well-functioning public service that meets the needs of the people of Osun state. The outcome of the audit will provide a solid foundation for informed decision-making and strategic workforce planning to enhance service delivery and overall development in the state.
