Senate Pledges to Resuscitate Moribund Industries for Economic Growth
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has made a commitment to prioritise the revival of moribund industries across the nation. He emphasised that under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and with the cooperation of the National Assembly, policies would be implemented to promote the speedy resuscitation of these industries.

Senator Akpabio expressed confidence in the President's dedication and stated that the government would give due attention to abandoned industries in order to create job opportunities for the youth and contribute to the country's economic growth.

Addressing the issue during a visit to his predecessor in the Senate, Senator Chris Ekpenyong, and Senator Akpabio highlighted the readiness of the 10th Senate to support the revival of these industries. He affirmed their commitment to passing relevant laws that would breathe new life into these moribund industries, benefitting unemployed youth and further strengthening the nation's economy.

Expressing his gratitude, Senator Akpabio acknowledged Senator Ekpenyong's support and contributions during his campaign for the presidency of the 10th Senate. Despite their political differences, Senator Ekpenyong, a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), supported Senator Akpabio's aspirations, which played a significant role in his victory. Senator Akpabio emphasised the importance of leaving political differences behind and focusing on working for the betterment of the people.

Senator Ekpenyong reciprocated the gratitude and welcomed Senator Akpabio as the representative of the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, expressing his satisfaction with having a senator from his district become the third-ranking citizen of the country. He called for unity among politicians and urged them to prioritise the interests of the people and the nation, transcending political affiliations for the benefit of all Nigerians.

Furthermore, Senator Ekpenyong urged the government to take urgent action in reviving various abandoned industries across the country, such as the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State and the Oku Iboku Paper mill in Akwa Ibom State. He emphasised the significance of these industries in driving national economic growth.

Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Senator David Umahi, who accompanied the Senate President on his visit, expressed confidence in Senator Akpabio's leadership in the 10th Senate. He believed that with Senator Akpabio's guidance, Nigeria would experience stability and progress in its economic development.

The commitment of the Senate to revive moribund industries reflects a determination to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve the overall well-being of the Nigerian people. With the cooperation between the executive and legislative branches of government, there is optimism that these industries will be rejuvenated, contributing to the nation's prosperity.
