Mrs Violet Obiokoro, the Managing Director of Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), highlighted the significant impact of Edo Tech Park on the state's youth, providing them with a pathway to elite training and career opportunities in the tech industry. She stated, "We have had good success with the Edo Tech Park, which is being run in partnership with Decagon. We have so far graduated 387 software engineers who can work anywhere in the world."
The graduates of Edo Tech Park have already made their mark on the global stage, with some securing positions with clients in the United States, while others contribute to software development for Nigerian banks and fintech companies. This initiative opens up a multitude of opportunities for young individuals aspiring to kickstart their careers in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field.
As the program continues to progress, Mrs Obiokoro revealed that they are currently in their sixth cohort. The comprehensive training provided at Edo Tech Park equips graduates with the necessary skills and expertise to thrive in the professional world. The director emphasised the state's readiness to embrace digitalisation, stating, "So when the Edo State Governor said recently that the state is digitised, we are actually ready on all fronts, from the infrastructure with the fibre optic cables across the state to the requisite manpower that will leverage the structures to create wealth in the state."
With the success of Edo Tech Park and its contribution to building a highly skilled workforce in the tech sector, Edo State is steadily positioning itself as a centre of excellence and attracting global attention for its commitment to nurturing local talent and driving economic growth through technology and innovation.
