Enugu Governor Assures Safety, Rejects Sit-at-Home Order
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has assured residents and visitors that his administration is committed to their safety and security. Speaking at a meeting with community leaders, he emphasized that security agencies are on high alert to prevent any security breaches. The governor urged everyone to disregard the sit-at-home order and pledged to work with neighboring states to eliminate criminal activities.

Governor Mbah expressed concern about the negative impact of the illegal sit-at-home order, including the impoverishment of citizens and the discouragement of potential investors. He stated that his administration would take decisive action against individuals who disrupt the peace of the state. The governor highlighted the connection between the sit-at-home order and poverty, emphasizing that security forces would continue to apprehend those who engage in criminal activities.

The governor condemned those who perpetrate violence from abroad while innocent people suffer the consequences. He called on the people to resist those attempting to manipulate them under the pretext of fighting for a cause. Governor Mbah reaffirmed his commitment to making Enugu State attractive to private investors, creating jobs, and revitalizing the state's reputation through various programs and policies.

He urged the community leaders to reject the sit-at-home order and promote the culture of industry, creativity, and commerce. The governor emphasized the importance of peace and security in achieving economic growth and promised to generate wealth, create employment opportunities, and fulfill his promises to the people.

Community leaders, including Sir Eze Solomon and Dr. Barth Nwankwo, commended the governor's proactive approach to curbing insecurity and protecting citizens. They highlighted the need for increased police presence in rural communities and requested the deployment of more security personnel to enhance public confidence. Other leaders, such as Hon. Isaac Onyia, Hon. Ejike Iloh, Hon. Ogbodo Arinze, Chief Bony Edeh, and Barr. Paully Eze, called for aggressive sensitization programs in rural areas to educate people about the importance of resuming their normal activities.

The community leaders also appealed to the governor to reorganize and strengthen community policing through initiatives such as Neighbourhood Watch, Forest Guard, and vigilante groups. They expressed their readiness to collaborate with the state and local governments to eradicate criminal activities in their localities.
