Enugu Police Recover Bodies of Sit-at-Home Enforcers
The Enugu State Police Command has made a significant development in the ongoing effort to curb the activities of sit-at-home enforcers. The command's spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, released a statement on Saturday, announcing the recovery of four bodies of suspected hoodlums who were overpowered and fatally shot.

According to Mr Ndukwe, a combined team of tactical police operatives discovered the bodies of the male suspects in a forest behind G. Ede Filling Station/7-Up at Awkunanaw, Enugu. The suspects had sought refuge in the forest after fleeing from the scene.

This recovery follows an earlier report of the operatives successfully dislodging armed criminal elements who were attempting to enforce the illegal sit-at-home order. The incident took place during the early hours of Friday when the operatives intercepted the criminals at One-Day, Awkunanaw, Enugu. The criminals were in the process of snatching an ENTRACO-branded Sharon minivan from its driver at gunpoint.

A gun duel ensued between the criminals and the police operatives, resulting in the criminals sustaining fatal gunshot wounds. The superior firepower of the police operatives played a crucial role in overpowering the suspects, leading them to escape with varying degrees of injuries.

Following the encounter, a manhunt operation was launched, leading to the discovery of important evidence. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed an AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 19 live ammunition of 7.62 calibres, two bottles of petrol bombs, and other incriminating items.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, reassured the residents of Enugu State that the police, along with other security agencies, would continue their relentless efforts to maintain maximum security for citizens. He urged residents to continue providing support to the authorities as they work to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

The recovery of the bodies of these suspected sit-at-home enforcers marks a significant step in the fight against criminal elements attempting to disrupt peace and security in Enugu State. The police's determination to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order reflects their commitment to protecting the welfare of the residents and upholding the rule of law.

The Enugu State Police Command's successful operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of proactive law enforcement measures and collaborative efforts between the police and the community. The ongoing commitment to maintaining maximum security will undoubtedly contribute to the overall safety and tranquillity of Enugu State.
