Family Commends President Tinubu for Honouring Late Premier Akintola
The family of the late Samuel Ladoke Akintola expressed their appreciation to the federal government for honouring the late premier of the western region.

In a statement jointly signed by family members, they commended President Bola Tinubu for recognising the unforgettable legacies of the late Akintola.

President Tinubu's decision to name the Ibadan International Airport after the late Chief Akintola was met with felicitations from the family.

They highlighted Akintola's contributions to democratic and national development and acknowledged his roots as a Prince from the Akinbola royal family in Orile Igbon, Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The family referenced a memo from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, which announced the renaming of the airport as part of reforms in the aviation sector. They praised President Tinubu's progressive policies and expressed their delight over the gesture.

Reminiscing on Akintola's role as the premier of the defunct western Nigeria from 1963 to 1966, the family representatives conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima on their inauguration.

They expressed confidence that the nation would experience unity, peace, growth, and stability under President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda.

The family extended their well wishes to Mr. President, praying for good health and a successful tenure in office. They also took the opportunity to thank the Federal Government, particularly the immediate-past President, Muhammadu Buhari, for bestowing national honors upon their late father and uncle.

Notably, infrastructure such as the Nigeria Railway Station at Omi-Adio in Ibadan was named after Akintola during Buhari's administration.

The family's commendation serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of late Premier Akintola and the recognition of his contributions to Nigeria's development.
