Fatal Accident Claims Three Lives on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Three people have tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday. The incident involved a Toyota Sienna with registration number BDG 426 HT and a DAF truck marked RNG 558 XC. Reports indicate that the Sienna driver collided with the DAF truck, which was exiting a trailer park.

Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed the incident to the press in Abeokuta. The accident took place near the Total Petrol Station along the expressway. Among those involved in the accident were seven individuals, comprising four adult males, two adult females, and one child.

Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed on the part of the Sienna driver. She emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and exercising caution on the road. Speaking about the aftermath of the accident, she said, "The injured victim was taken to Isara General Hospital for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara." She further mentioned that FRSC operatives were present at the scene, managing the traffic situation.

In light of this unfortunate incident, the Sector Commander of the FRSC urged motorists to be mindful of their speed and urged them to exercise common sense when driving. By adhering to speed limits and maintaining a responsible driving approach, drivers can help prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.

The FRSC remains committed to ensuring road safety and will continue to carry out awareness campaigns and enforcement measures to promote responsible driving habits and reduce the occurrence of accidents on Nigerian roads.
