Former Minister Calls for Independent Probe into JAMB Controversy
Former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has reiterated her demand for an independent technical investigation into the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) following the controversial result of 19-year-old student Mmesoma Ejikeme.

Despite Mmesoma's recent claim that she actually scored 249, contrary to the initial score of 362, Ezekwesili stands firm on her call for an investigation into the matter. In a series of fresh tweets, the former minister highlighted the need for a detailed systems check to shed light on the interface between JAMB's system/database and the examination centre where Mmesoma took her exam.

Ezekwesili expressed her interest in having several questions answered by JAMB to address the confusion surrounding the JAMB-Mmesoma Saga.

She emphasised the importance of understanding the facts behind the production of the result slip Mmesoma received and whether similar instances of tech-enabled double results have occurred in other JAMB exams.

The former minister also raised concerns about the comprehensive systems check conducted by JAMB in such situations and the nature of the interface between JAMB's system/database and the examination centre, including results verification.

While acknowledging that JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, attempted to contact her from Namibia, Ezekwesili maintained her call for an independent technical investigation. She believed that this investigation would help uncover any issues that could potentially compromise JAMB's systems and architecture for exam integrity.

The former minister expressed satisfaction with the public's interest in the case, emphasising that the integrity of exams is crucial for global trust among countries.

Ezekwesili reiterated the need for an independent technology investigation to reveal the truth of the case and determine the roles played by all parties involved. She emphasised that trust in public institutions like JAMB, which record individual effort and performance, is vital for the country.

The former minister concluded by stating that it is important for this matter to be appropriately resolved, as it holds significance for all reasonable citizens.

The controversy surrounding Mmesoma's JAMB result has sparked a broader conversation about the integrity of the examination process and the need for transparency. With Dr Oby Ezekwesili persistently pushing for an independent technology investigation, the hope is that a thorough examination of the situation will provide clarity and uphold the credibility of JAMB's examination system.
