Interfaith Prayers in Maiduguri Seek Peaceful Rainfall
Thousands of Muslims and Christians in Maiduguri came together on Friday to pray for peace and steady rainfall in Borno State. Muslim worshippers observed their prayers in respective mosques, while Christians of different denominations gathered at the First Baptist Church, Maiduguri, for the interfaith prayers.

The call for prayers came from the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi, and officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), who urged the faithful to seek divine intervention over the shortage of rainfall in the region.

As part of the prayers, the Shehu of Borno directed all district and village heads across the state to mobilise their subjects to support the needy, orphans, and the disabled. This compassionate action is seen as an integral part of the prayer for peace and prosperity in the region.

The Shehu also emphasised the importance of guiding the youth towards good behaviour and moral conduct. He urged parents to counsel their children against engaging in immoral behaviours, social vices, and drug abuse. Additionally, he called on traders and business operators to conduct their lawful businesses with the fear of Allah.

During the Christian prayer session at the Baptist Church, the state chairman of CAN, Most Rev. John Bakeni, encouraged the faithful to seek God's guidance and adhere to His ways in all their dealings for positive outcomes.

The Bishop of Maiduguri Anglican Diocese, Rev. Emmanuel Morris, also fervently prayed for peace and fruitful rainfall in the state, hoping for a bountiful harvest.

The joint interfaith prayers demonstrate the unity and solidarity among the people of Maiduguri in their quest for peace and prosperity in the region. These prayers hold great significance in a region that has been grappling with security challenges and adverse weather conditions.

The people's collective faith and hope for divine intervention provide a source of strength and resilience as they face the challenges that come their way. The prayers serve as a powerful reminder of the power of unity and the importance of seeking peace and prosperity for all.
