The commissioner emphasised that Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf places great importance on initiatives that will lead to the growth of the state's IGR. To achieve this objective, he urged stakeholders to collaboratively develop a blueprint for IGR improvement within the targeted period.
Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin stressed the importance of diversifying revenue sources, as the current global landscape does not favour economies dependent on a single resource. He highlighted that the decline in global prices of fossil fuels has further necessitated the shift to alternative revenue streams.
With a focus on increasing revenue, Alhaji Jibrin called on all revenue-generating agencies to step up their efforts in order to raise the state's revenue profile. Collaborative efforts from various sectors are essential in achieving the desired revenue targets.
The workshop was attended by key stakeholders, including the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Usman Bala; Commissioner for Planning, Alhaji Musa Sulaiman; Chairman, Internal Revenue Services, Alhaji Abdulkadir Dambo; and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Lawan Abdulwahab. Their presence at the workshop signifies the commitment of the state government to take significant steps towards revenue improvement and delivering better services to the people of Kano.
