The Speaker recalled that the decision to renovate the Assembly Complex was necessitated by a fire incident that occurred on October 10, 2022, rendering the complex uninhabitable for legislative activities. As a result, the lawmakers had to resort to conducting their sessions at the Speaker's Official Lodge. The renovation project is crucial in restoring the Assembly to its proper functioning as a space for serious legislative business.
Furthermore, Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf assured the executive arm of the government of the Assembly's cooperation, emphasising that their collaboration would foster rapid development in the state. The Assembly is committed to working closely with the executive to ensure the effective implementation of policies and programs that will benefit the people of Kogi State.
The contract award and subsequent renovation of the Kogi Assembly Complex signify a significant step towards restoring the functionality of the legislative body.
