Labour Party Chairman Urges Members to Prepare for Presidential Rerun
The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barrister Julius Abure, has called on party members to be ready for a potential presidential rerun. During a virtual meeting with the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy, Abure revealed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Bola Tinubu was also preparing for a rerun. He urged party members to be vigilant and ready to "further humiliate" the APC and its government in the upcoming elections.

Abure emphasised the importance of preparedness, stating, "Those in government are already planning for a rerun, and this is one of the areas where we will seek your support.

We should also be prepared because if the election is nullified, which is not what we are asking for, we believe strongly that Peter Obi should be declared as the President of Nigeria." He expressed confidence in the LP's victory based on the available statistics and results but acknowledged the possibility of a rerun election if the government proceeds with their plans.

The LP chairman expressed hope that if the matter reaches the Supreme Court, the apex court will rule in their favour. He also highlighted the collective responsibility of Obi-Datti members in the diaspora to join the struggle in reclaiming their mandate and not abandon it for any reason.

Ambassador Oseloka Obaze, the Director of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, urged diaspora members to see the fight for their mandate as a shared responsibility that holds significant potential for Nigeria's development.

The chairman of the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy emphasised the importance of advocacy, human rights promotion, capacity building, investment, education, healthcare support, diaspora engagement, and policy advocacy in fostering democratic governance, justice, and socio-economic progress in Nigeria.

The LP remains committed to its cause and will continue to mobilise its members and seek support to ensure a successful outcome in the potential presidential rerun. The party aims to secure a victory for Peter Obi and bring about positive change for the Federal Republic of Nigeria
