Napoli's Osimhen Pursues £103.8m Release Clause
Napoli's prolific forward, Victor Osimhen, is determined to secure a £103.8 million (€120m) release clause in his new contract with the Italian club. Osimhen's outstanding performance last season, scoring 31 goals for Napoli, including 26 in the league, helped the team win their first Serie A title in 33 years. This success has attracted interest from top European clubs, such as Manchester United, who are keen on signing the 24-year-old.

While Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is reluctant to sell Osimhen this summer, the striker is willing to commit to a new contract. However, he is insistent on having a release clause inserted to fulfil his "dream" of playing in the Premier League. Osimhen's current contract has two years remaining, and Napoli wants to avoid the risk of losing him for a lesser fee in the future.

Reports from Italy indicate that negotiations between Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, and De Laurentiis are underway, but they are struggling to agree on the release clause's value. Napoli is pushing for a much higher figure of £173 million (€200m) as the release clause, which could deter top clubs from pursuing the player.

Napoli's desire is to secure a significant profit from any potential sale, as they paid Lille approximately £70 million for Osimhen's services three years ago. If the club eventually agrees to the £103.8 million release clause and a Premier League club meets the figure, Napoli will have no choice but to part ways with the striker, despite De Laurentiis' previous declaration of not selling Osimhen this summer.

For Osimhen, his "dream" is to play in the Premier League, as he openly admitted in March. He acknowledged the league's reputation worldwide and expressed his ambition to continue performing well in Serie A while working towards achieving his ultimate goal of playing in the English top flight.

As the contract negotiations continue, Osimhen's future remains uncertain. Napoli will aim to secure their prized asset with a favourable deal, while the striker holds on to his dream of making a move to the prestigious Premier League someday.
