The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) called an indefinite national strike on Tuesday night, July 25.
The association's President, Dr. Orji Emeka Innocent, made the announcement during the association's National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday in Lagos. Emeka stated that the strike will begin at 12 a.m. on Tuesday.
The major demands of the association, according to Emeka, are: immediate payment of the 2023 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), immediate release of the circular on one-for-one replacement, payment of skipping arrears, and an upward review of CONMESS in line with full salary restoration to the 2014 value of CONMESS.
