Ondo Governor Initiates State's First Flyover Construction
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has initiated the construction of the Onyearugbulem/Shagari/Irese flyover to boost infrastructure in the state.

This flyover will be the first in the state capital since the creation of Ondo State in 1976 and the second flyover built under Akeredolu's leadership. The project aims to address traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and improve the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.

During an inspection visit to the project site, Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Raimi Aminu assured that the flyover and junction improvement project would be completed in less than 18 months.

He emphasised the importance of the project in easing traffic flow and eliminating long queues of vehicles in the area.

To facilitate the construction, the state government has already paid over N300m as compensation to approximately 57 claimants whose properties fell within the rights-of-way.

Commissioner Aminu stated that this compensation amount is the highest ever paid by the government for any project, and he addressed claims of inadequate compensation, clarifying that the Land Use Act of 1978 vests land ownership in governments, thus the market value of the land is not considered in such cases.

The new flyover is expected to alleviate traffic congestion during peak hours and improve the commuting experience for residents and travellers.

With this infrastructure project, the Ondo State government demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the state's development and creating a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing environment for its citizens.
