Plateau University Gets N1.2bn TETFund Boost
Plateau State University has been granted a N1.2 billion intervention by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), according to the institution's vice-chancellor, Benard Matur. In an interview on Saturday in Bokkos, Mr Matur expressed his appreciation to TETFund for the funds allocated for the 2023 intervention, which will be utilized for normal and zonal interventions.

The funds will contribute to the construction of a 1,000-capacity female hostel and the development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit, stated Mr Matur. He also highlighted that 64 academic and non-academic staff members of the university are currently benefiting from scholarships provided by TETFund, both within the country and abroad. Furthermore, 25 new educational programs have been introduced alongside the existing 17 programs, spanning undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The vice-chancellor further revealed that plans have been finalized for the establishment of the School of Business Studies, offering a wide array of programs at the diploma, postgraduate, master's, and doctorate levels. Mr Matur pledged to uphold high academic standards in the university, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to compete effectively in society.

He expressed gratitude to the state government for its unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the university. The financial intervention from TETFund will undoubtedly contribute to enhancing the infrastructure and educational opportunities at Plateau State University.
