Police Confirm Release of 'Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki' Kidnapped Native Doctor
The police command in Anambra has confirmed the release of a popular Police, Chukwudozie Nwangwu, popularly known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki”, by his abductors.

The police public relations officer in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed Mr Nwangwu’s release on Saturday.

Mr Ikenga noted that the native doctor, kidnapped at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, in Oba in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra, was released by his abductors in the early hours of Saturday.

According to Mr Ikenga, the abductors had contacted friends and relatives, demanding N300 million.

The news of Mr Nwangwu's release came as a relief to his family, friends, and colleagues, who had been deeply concerned about his safety since his abduction.

The popular police officer, known for his traditional healing practices, holds a significant place in the community and is well-regarded by many.

The circumstances surrounding his release have not been fully disclosed by the police, but it appears that the abductors may have had a change of heart or were unable to achieve their demands.

The police authorities have not revealed whether any ransom was paid for his release or if any arrests have been made in connection with the abduction.

Kidnapping for ransom has been a recurring security challenge in Nigeria, and Anambra State has not been immune to such incidents.

However, the release of Mr Nwangwu brings hope that concerted efforts by security agencies and the community can lead to positive outcomes in such cases.

The prompt response of the police and other security agencies in investigating the abduction and working towards securing Mr Nwangwu's release is commendable.

It demonstrates the importance of timely action in such situations to ensure the safety and well-being of the victims.

It is hoped that the successful release of "Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki" will serve as a deterrent to potential criminals and encourage collaborative efforts between security forces and communities to address security challenges in Anambra and beyond.

As the community rejoices over Mr Nwangwu's safe return, it is crucial for relevant authorities to remain vigilant and proactive in their efforts to prevent and address crime.

Measures must be put in place to enhance security and protect the lives and property of residents in the state.

The police command in Anambra should also continue to work closely with members of the public to gather intelligence and respond effectively to emerging security threats.

Furthermore, community members should be encouraged to report suspicious activities promptly to the appropriate authorities to forestall potential criminal activities.

The case of Mr Nwangwu serves as a reminder of the need for continuous improvement in security strategies and measures to maintain peace and safety in Anambra State.

It is essential for stakeholders, including government agencies, security forces, and community leaders, to collaborate and synergize efforts to tackle insecurity effectively.

The release of "Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki" is undoubtedly a positive development, but it also highlights the urgency of addressing the root causes of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

Sustainable solutions that focus on socio-economic development, youth empowerment, and job creation can help reduce the motivation for criminal behavior.

As the dust settles on this abduction case, it is essential for all stakeholders to remain proactive in their commitment to making Anambra State a safer place for all its residents. The well-being and security of every citizen are paramount, and concerted efforts are needed to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
