Adamawa Police Confirm Deadly Attack by Shila Boys Gang
The Police Command in Adamawa State has confirmed the killing of a 37-year-old man, Umar Abdulkadir, by the notorious "Shila Boys" gang.

This gang of light weapon-bearing youths has been causing terror in various communities in Adamawa and other areas, specialising in snatching mobile phones, jewellery, and other valuables.

According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command's Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the gang attempted to snatch Mr Abdulkadir's mobile phones on Ajiya Street in Yola-North Local Government Area. The command was alerted to the situation at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The police have initiated an investigation into the killing to apprehend all those involved. Sgt. Muhammad Abdulkadir, the brother of the deceased, recounted the tragic event, stating that the gang, consisting of around seven members, forcefully entered the deceased's house around 2:00 a.m., armed with knives and other dangerous weapons.

Despite his efforts to escape, Umar Abdulkadir was unable to evade the attackers. He suffered a stabbing wound to the stomach, which exposed his intestines.

The gang made off with the victim's two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Umar was rushed to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The rise of criminal activities carried out by groups like the Shila Boys has prompted concerns among residents and authorities alike.

The local police are intensifying their efforts to curb the activities of these criminal gangs and bring those responsible for such heinous acts to justice. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by such groups and the need for robust security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
