CAN Condoles Zaria Mosque Tragedy, Calls for Unity
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed its condolences to the Muslim Ummah in Zaria, Kaduna State, and the entire nation following the tragic collapse of a section of the Zaria Central Mosque on Friday.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the President of CAN, conveyed his shock and sorrow over the deaths and injuries that resulted from the incident and extended prayers to the affected families.

"We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the 25 individuals who sustained injuries, and we pray for their quick and complete recovery.

The Zaria Central Mosque holds significant historical and religious value, having stood as an important place of worship for over 150 years," Archbishop Okoh stated in Abuja on Saturday.

He emphasised the importance of unity and solidarity among religious communities in Nigeria during times of crisis. He noted the shared humanity that binds people together and called for mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among various faiths.

While acknowledging the prompt response of relevant authorities and emergency services in rescuing survivors and providing medical care, Archbishop Okoh urged the government and stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident's cause.

This measure aims to prevent future recurrences and ensure the safety of worshippers in all places of worship across the country.

"May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may the injured recover quickly. Let us unite, support, and comfort each other during this difficult time," Archbishop Okoh concluded, emphasising the need for interfaith dialogue and collaboration to create a society where individuals of different religious backgrounds can practice their faith peacefully and freely.
