Edo Governor Urges PDP Support for Local Government Elections
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called on the electorate to rally behind Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the upcoming local government election scheduled for September 2.

He emphasised the importance of electing PDP candidates across all 18 local governments to ensure the delivery of grassroots-level development.

Speaking during the PDP flag-off campaign in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, Governor Obaseki vouched for the credibility and capabilities of the PDP candidate for Etsako Central.

He expressed confidence that the candidate would provide effective leadership at the local government level and collaborate with him to bring tangible progress to the area.

"Our candidate is a better person that will bring better life, I know him, he is a better person and he is a man that will work with me to bring the dividends of democracy to the people," Governor Obaseki stated. He urged the residents to turn out in large numbers on election day to support the chosen candidate.

Governor Obaseki also addressed the current challenges faced by Nigerians due to the removal of fuel subsidies. He empathised with the hardships citizens are enduring and assured them that his administration would provide palliatives to alleviate their suffering.

"I have made available money that will be given to local government chairmen every month for you people to feed with," he declared.

Tony Azigbemi, the state party chairman, expressed his confidence in the victory of the PDP in the upcoming election. He handed over the party's flag to the Etsako Central candidate, emphasising the PDP's strong prospects in not only Etsako Central but also across the entire state.

Solomon Obomighie, the PDP candidate for Etsako Central, outlined his vision for the local government, with a strong focus on agricultural development. He pledged to prioritise the advancement of the agricultural sector beyond local consumption, aiming to provide modern equipment to enhance productivity. Obomighie also proposed that the council would become an off-taker for agricultural produce, fostering economic growth and improved livelihoods for the local population.

"I have gone through the nooks and crannies of Etsako Central and I have been giving them this message of hope. The message of hope is better life that will come through me," Obomighie affirmed.

As the local government election draws near, the people of Edo State are poised to cast their votes and determine the path of local development under the PDP candidates' leadership.
