Former Kwara State Military Governor Latinwo Passes Away at 80
Former Military Governor of Kwara State, Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Latinwo (Rtd), has passed away at the age of 80. He reportedly succumbed to a prolonged illness on Saturday, August 12, in the United Kingdom (UK).

Group Captain Latinwo, a retired officer of the Nigerian Air Force, served as the Military Governor of Kwara State from January 1984 to August 1985 during the tenure of the Military Government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari.

Born on July 12, 1943, in Offa, Latinwo was a part of the pioneering group of officer cadets recruited into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in 1963.

He entered the service under the guidance of Colonel Gerhard Kahtz, who was on secondment to the Nigerian Air Force as the Head of the German Air Force Assistance Group (GAFAG).

The passing of Group Captain Latinwo has brought deep sadness to the people of Kwara State, particularly the Offa community. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed his condolences in a statement released on Saturday.

The governor described Latinwo's death as a significant loss, highlighting the absence of a remarkable statesman whose reservoir of wisdom and experience is immeasurable.

The late Group Captain Latinwo played a crucial role in the governance of Kwara State during his tenure as Military Governor.

His contributions and service to the state and the nation have left a lasting impact. As his legacy lives on, the people of Kwara State remember and honour his dedicated service and commitment to the welfare of the community.
