The judge made this decision due to the overwhelming number of emails from Nigerians eagerly awaiting her ruling on the matter.
According to a court document filed on Friday, Judge Maldonado acknowledged the significant public interest in the case and the numerous emails received by the court from concerned Nigerians.
She stated, "The Court will endeavour to issue a written ruling as soon as possible," emphasising that the court would not consider any third-party or ex parte submissions.
The legal dispute between Tinubu and Mr. Abubakar centres around the authenticity of Tinubu's CSU records.
The university had previously released documents in response to a subpoena, which showed that a female Bola Tinubu from South West College had been admitted to CSU to pursue a degree in accounting. This revelation raised questions about the accuracy of Tinubu's educational credentials.
Furthermore, CSU has refused to authenticate the diploma that Tinubu submitted to Nigeria's electoral body, INEC, leading to allegations of forgery and perjury. Mr Abubakar seeks to void Tinubu's election victory at Nigeria's Supreme Court based on these allegations.
The matter became even more convoluted when discrepancies were discovered in the signatures on the diploma submitted to INEC. The signatures belonged to two women, Elnora Daniel and Niva Lubin, who enrolled at CSU in 1998 and 1996, respectively, almost 20 years after Tinubu's alleged graduation in 1979.
Judge Jeffrey Gilbert had previously ordered CSU to release Tinubu's records on September 20. However, Tinubu requested that Judge Maldonado delay the order's enforcement, citing severe and irreparable damage to his life.
While the presidential elections petitions tribunal upheld Tinubu's election victory on September 6, Mr Abubakar maintains that the decision was deeply flawed and unjust.
He has filed an appeal at Nigeria's Supreme Court, intending to use the CSU records to support allegations of forgery and perjury against Tinubu. The outcome of this legal battle could have significant implications for Tinubu's political career.
