Delta Petrol Tanker Explosion Claims Five Lives
Tragedy struck in Delta State as a petrol tanker explosion claimed the lives of five people. The incident occurred at Ugbenu in Ethiope West Local Government Area. 

The tanker, loaded with petroleum products, was en route to Benin City when the disaster unfolded. According to DSP Bright Edafe, the command's spokesperson, the incident transpired in the early hours of October 1, 2023, around 0200hrs.

The accident led to the spillage of petroleum products into a nearby swamp, attracting local youths who began scooping fuel into various containers. 

However, disaster struck when an explosion erupted, engulfing the entire area in flames. Tragically, five individuals lost their lives in the fire.

In addition to the loss of lives, the inferno resulted in extensive property damage. The blaze consumed eight buses of different makes, two tankers, five trailers, two motorcycles, a Sienna space wagon, and a C Class Mercedes Benz car.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Oghara General Hospital's morgue in Ethiope West. Responding to the incident, police commissioner Wale Abass expressed sympathy for the families affected by the tragedy.
