Ekiti Traditional Ruler Urges Action on Kidnapping Crisis
The Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Aladesuyi, has called on the Ekiti State government and security agencies to intensify efforts to address the recurring issue of kidnapping in various parts of the state.

He made this appeal during a news conference organised by his subjects to mark his one-year coronation anniversary.

Oba Aladesuyi commended the state government for restoring electricity to some areas, including his community, after a decade of power outages. However, he expressed concern about the persistent incidents of kidnapping and other crimes, particularly in the Ijan/Ilumoba and Aisegba-Ekiti axis of the state.

These security challenges have caused panic in the affected areas and led some farmers to abandon their farming activities and relocate to safer regions within the state.

The traditional ruler pledged his community's commitment to maintaining peace and cooperation with the government to combat insecurity in the state. He also emphasised the need for government at all levels to prioritise the development of cottage industries as a solution to rampant youth unemployment.

Oba Aladesuyi encouraged Nigerian youths to engage in agriculture as a means of addressing the issues of hunger and unemployment plaguing the country.

Regarding his upcoming coronation anniversary celebration on October 7, the Onijan mentioned that the event would be attended by prominent Nigerians and traditional rulers from within and outside the state. The ceremony would include the conferring of honorary and traditional chieftaincy titles on individuals who have contributed to the development of the community, Ekiti State, and the nation.

He expressed gratitude for the peace, harmony, and stability that have prevailed in the community since his ascension to the throne and praised the state government's initiatives, such as the cargo airport and knowledge zone.

Oba Aladesuyi concluded by urging Nigerians to embrace peace and exercise patience with the government as it works to address various challenges.
