Man Arrested for Allegedly Defrauding POS Operator with Fake Alerts
A 20-year-old man, identified as Segun Gabriel, has found himself behind bars in Ogun State, accused of defrauding a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator using fake bank alerts.

The Ogun State Police described Segun Gabriel as a "rogue and a vagabond" who specialises in manipulating POS transactions to steal money.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the suspect conducted a transaction of N40,000 with the victim on October 5, involving a fake interbank transfer. However, the POS operator did not immediately realise the fraud.

On October 6, Gabriel returned to the same operator, attempting another transaction worth N35,000. This time, the victim detected the fraud after the suspect vanished.

Fortunately, the victim spotted the suspect under a bridge in Akute and raised an alarm, leading to the assistance of passersby who helped apprehend Segun Gabriel.

The police were contacted, and Gabriel was taken into custody, where he is currently providing information to help identify his accomplices.
