The village head, Mallam Sunusi Yusuf, recounted the horrifying incident, stating that the bandits managed to shoot nine individuals and abduct five before security forces arrived on the scene and engaged the criminals in a firefight. Four of the gunshot victims tragically lost their lives on the spot, while five others sustained serious injuries.
The deceased victims have been identified as Dahiru Tsalha Wawo, Bashir Salisu, Umar Yahuza, and Umar Bako. Those who were injured include Abubakar Yahuza, Bala Shamaki, Aliyu Ahmed, and Abdullahi Mamuda, all of whom have been hospitalised.
The four abducted individuals were fortunately intercepted by members of a local vigilante group in the Jaji area of Igabi Local Government the following morning. They have since been safely reunited with their families.
The community is reeling from shock and grief as the frequency of attacks in the vicinity continues to rise. Although this is the first recorded invasion of Anguwar Dandali by the bandits, nearby areas such as Wusasa and Kuregu have experienced consistent attacks. Residents are growing increasingly concerned as the bandits' activities appear to be spreading to other parts of the community.
In response to the escalating insecurity, residents are calling for intensified security measures and are seeking solace through prayer. Authorities are urged to take more rigorous security actions to prevent further attacks and provide a sense of safety to the affected communities.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer at the Kaduna State Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, has promised to contact the DPO, Dan Magaji, to provide more information on the incident.
