The much-touted Tunde Idiagbon Flyover bridge on Tanke Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, will be temporarily opened for usage during the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) convocation.

The multi-million dollar project is still in the works, but it will be ready for usage between October 16 and 18, 2023, to enable smooth vehicle travel to and from the University of Ilorin.

Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, announced this in a statement on Saturday.

He complimented the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for instructing relevant officials to open the Tanke Flyover bridge on Monday, October 16 and remain open until October 23, 2023, allowing for smooth traffic along the University Road.

In a statement issued by the university's head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, Egbewole highlighted that the decision was in response to a solicitation letter previously submitted to the governor by the University's administration.

He claimed to have gleaned hints of the governor's direction from encounters with top state government officials.

According to Egbewole, the direction will substantially improve vehicular traffic during the university's upcoming convocation events on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, October 20, 21, and 23, 2023.

He also thanked the governor for promising to repair the damaged sections of the University Road up to the institution's Main Gate before the scheduled convocation days.

He emphasized that the governor's rapid response to the University administration's petition distinguished him as a listening leader.
