Western Capitals Condemn Palestinian Attacks on Israel
Western capitals have strongly condemned a wave of Palestinian attacks on Israel, which marks a significant increase in violence that has been escalating for two years.

Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the Palestinian militant group Hamas had "launched a war against the State of Israel," and that Israeli troops were engaged in conflict with the enemy.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed solidarity with Israel and called for an immediate end to the violence, emphasising that terrorism and violence do not lead to solutions.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock acknowledged that Hamas contributes to the intensification of violence and affirmed Israel's right, guaranteed by international law, to defend itself against terrorism.

France expressed full solidarity with Israel and its commitment to Israel's security, firmly condemning the attacks. Italy also supported Israel's right to defend itself against the brutal attack.

Britain's foreign minister James Cleverly condemned the horrific attacks and reiterated Israel's right to self-defense.

Dutch PM Mark Rutte decried Hamas's unprecedented attack on Israel and called for an end to the violence, emphasising Israel's right to defend itself. Spain expressed shock at the indiscriminate violence of the attacks on Israel, while Ukraine and the Czech Republic voiced their support for Israel's right to self-defence.

Meanwhile, Russia's foreign ministry called for an immediate ceasefire between Israeli and Palestinian forces, urging both sides to renounce violence and show restraint. Russia advocated for a negotiation process facilitated by the international community to establish a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.

Moscow reiterated its support for negotiations leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov urged restraint from all parties and expressed concern about the unexpected escalation in violence.

The situation reflects the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, with international calls for diplomatic solutions and an end to violence.
