The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have inaugurated a $1.19 million mini-stadium to bolster grassroots football development in Kebbi State.
The groundwork for this project, situated on Kalgo Road in Birnin Kebbi, was laid in September with the support of the state's former governor, Atiku Bagudu, and the NFF.
During the stadium's inauguration on Friday, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris underscored the importance of involving young people in beneficial activities to promote their health. He was represented by Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena, the Head of Service (HoS).
Governor Idris expressed his administration's consideration to revive the Annual Sports Festival and pledged continued support for clubs and associations to thrive.
He extended his gratitude to the General Secretary of NFF, Sanusi Muhammad, who played a pivotal role in the project's location, in collaboration with NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, and the Chairman of the state Football Association, Abubakar Chika-Ladan.
The governor appealed to the state football association and the NFF to consider making the state a hub for the National Football League, to nurture football talents in the state.
Governor Idris further assured his administration's readiness to assist and collaborate in the advancement of football and other sports within the state.
