The bill, which was passed by the Abia State House of Assembly on December 8, aims to prioritise the development of Aba and attract investment to the area.
In his remarks following the signing of the bill, Governor Otti highlighted that the establishment of GADA would ensure that Aba, a bustling commercial centre, receives the special attention it deserves.
The Governor noted that Aba is a hub for a diverse range of businesses, including light and heavy manufacturing, micro, small and medium-scale enterprises, and various trading activities.
He extended his congratulations to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, his fellow assembly members, and the members of the State Executive Council on the successful passage of the executive bill. He expressed his belief that with the enactment of this law, efforts to rejuvenate Aba have received the necessary legal support to facilitate the desired development.
Earlier, while presenting the bill for the Governor's assent, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Abia State, Ikechukwu Uwanna, pointed out that the executive bill was enacted into law by the House of Assembly on December 8, 2023.
Providing further insight into the newly signed law, the Director-General of GADA, Mr. Uche Ukeje, characterised the law as a unique instrument that will steer the development of Aba.
