Kano Police Apprehend Eight in Connection with Robbery

The Kano State Police Command has taken into custody eight individuals suspected of involvement in a robbery incident on Katsina Road and the Kurna Asabe area of Ungogo Local Government Area.

This information was disclosed in a statement released by the command's spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Friday in Kano.

According to him, one Ibrahim Rabiu, also known as Janare, from Kwanar Ungogo Quarters, was among those arrested during the operation. Rabiu, who is allegedly recognised as the ringleader of a gang comprising over 200 youths, is accused of coordinating criminal activities on November 9. These activities included blocking the Kano to Katsina Road, extorting money from innocent individuals and motorists, and vandalising people’s property.

The other seven members of the gang, identified as Aminu Adamu, Danye, Halifa Bashir, Jamilu Mas’udu, Abubakar Surajo, Ahmad Surajo, Muftahu Surajo, and Ibrahim Surajo, were also apprehended.

SP Kiyawa stated, "We recovered two unregistered motorcycles, three swords, four cutlasses, five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 135 pieces of Exol tablets, 10 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 150 pieces of rubber solution, and 27 injections during the operation."

He relayed the assurance of the Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, that the command is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents in Kano State.

The command reiterated its dedication to relentless efforts in apprehending and bringing to justice those who seek to disrupt the peace and harmonious coexistence currently enjoyed in the state. He said, "We will not relent in our efforts to apprehend and bring to justice, those who seek to disrupt the peace and peaceful coexistence being enjoyed under our areas of supervision."
