This was disclosed by Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, during a press conference that followed the council's inaugural meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In addition to this, Bagudu announced that the council has given its authorisation to four standing committees, which are composed of representatives from both the public and private sectors.
He said, "Today, the first National Council of Privatisation meeting under the reconstituted council chaired by His Excellency Vice President Kashim Shettima took place. The meeting was held with the Vice Chairman of the Council being the Coordinating Minister of Economy as well as members from both the private and public sectors."
He further stated that the council deliberated and approved four standing committees of the council as well as the work plan for 2024 for the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE).
"The chairman of the council noted with satisfaction the tremendous efforts that the management and staff of the BPE have put into the documents for the council meeting," he added.
Bagudu expressed that the council is poised to make decisions that will enhance the efficiency of the Nigerian public business sector, and these decisions will be pursued with renewed determination.
On Friday, Shettima inaugurated the newly-formed NCP members to work towards the realisation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also encouraged them to break away from past practices to pave the way for economic growth that aligns with the President's expectations.
