This strategic plan is projected to generate an income of approximately N125 billion and create over 500,000 jobs.
The NDP-SRAP, which is built on five pillars - governance, ecosystem and technology, human capital development, cooperation and collaboration, and funding and sustainability, was introduced alongside a capacity-building workshop for Data Protection Officers on Data Privacy and Protection.
Dr Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner of the NDPC, emphasised during the launch that the NDP-SRAP and the associated training are vital to the Commission's goal of establishing a strong data protection sector.
He reminded the audience that the "Renewed Hope" agenda of President Bola Tinubu's administration aims to create about two million jobs in the digital economy sector. He further stated that the data protection sector alone has the potential to create more than 500,000 jobs.
Dr Olatunji explained that the NDP-SRAP encompasses interconnected initiatives and activities such as job and wealth creation, human capital development, revenue generation, foundational initiatives for the digital economy, and enhancing Nigeria's global reputation.
