Sowore Urges Ondo Assembly to Act on Governor's Health

Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has urged the Ondo State House of Assembly to apply the doctrine of necessity in light of the health condition of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Sowore made this call during a town hall meeting in Akure, the state capital, insisting that the Assembly must take appropriate action.

It was previously disclosed by Governor Akeredolu, through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, that he would be taking another medical leave. In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, the governor indicated that he would be delegating his powers to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, until his return from the medical trip.

Sowore, speaking at the town hall meeting, asserted that the governor needed to step down from his position and focus on his health. He claimed that Akeredolu, who had been unwell, was incapable of writing or signing any document.

Sowore further stated that the House of Assembly should make public the letter allegedly written by the governor requesting medical leave.
