Monday, the Lagos Police arraigned Hassan Nurudeen and Hussien Nurudeen, 20-year-old twin brothers, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The brothers are facing trial on a three-count charge of assault, malicious damage, and attack, all allegedly committed against two staff members of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
Despite the charges, the defendants pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, informed the court that the offences were committed on November 27, around 1.35 pm at Evangelist Bello David Street, Aradagun, in the Badagry area of Lagos.
According to Okuoimose, the defendants allegedly assaulted and attacked Lamidi Akeem, an EKEDC staff member, using stones and sticks which resulted in an injury to his left eye. Furthermore, the twins are accused of damaging a Samsung Galaxy A41 phone, valued at N153,000, belonging to Enemwo Clement, another EKEDC staff member.
The prosecutor stated that these offences contravene Sections 173, 339, and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadaunsi Adefioye, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until January 8 for further mention.
