Yuletide: NSCDC Deploys 1,200 Personnel in Edo State

In preparation for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Edo Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of a total of 1,200 personnel. This move is aimed at bolstering security within the state during the festive period.

This development was disclosed in a statement released on Monday by Efosa Ogbebor, the Head of Public Relations and Media Unit of the command.

According to Ogbebor, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Matthew Uboyi, has directed the deployment of these personnel to ensure a peaceful environment during the yuletide season.

In addition to maintaining peace, the personnel, who comprise both armed and unarmed officers, have been tasked with safeguarding critical infrastructure within the state.

Uboyi stated, “In line with our commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the citizens, 1,200 officers, comprising both armed and unarmed personnel, have been strategically deployed to various crannies of the state.

“The comprehensive deployment is a proactive step to fortify security across the state and create an environment conducive for the celebration of the festive season.

“The command will work with sister agencies and law enforcement agencies to provide security for all and sundry.

“Residents should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly and cooperate with the personnel to ensure a hitch-free festive period.”

The commandant also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to all residents for a joyous and peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.
