In a recent development, the Osun Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Isyaku Mohammed, has pledged to implement stringent security measures in the lead-up to, during, and following the Yuletide celebrations across the state.
Commissioner Mohammed has instructed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to mobilise police personnel and operational resources to maintain a strong presence in public spaces, particularly places of worship, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other social gathering facilities.
This instruction follows closely on the heels of the Command’s declaration of a prohibition on the use of fireworks and street carnivals across the state during the Yuletide festivities.
Officers have been tasked with strict compliance and enforcement of the operation order for the season, ensuring intelligence-led and high visibility policing across the highways and throughout the state.
This information was made public in a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Friday in Osogbo.
"The good people of the state are advised to go about their lawful businesses without any apprehension and cooperate with security personnel deployed for these special assignments to bring to fore the sole aim of protection of lives and property.
"I also urge members of the public to be law abiding, orderly and vigilant before, during and after the Yuletide.
"They should continue to support the Police with adequate information towards achieving a peaceful atmosphere.
“They can call the following numbers: 08039537995, 08123823981, 08075872433 to report suspicious person(s) or movement to the Police,” the PPRO stated.
