Globacom subscribers may soon lose the ability to make calls to MTN lines, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The NCC said this was because of the failure of Globacom to settle the interconnect charges it owed to MTN.
The commission announced this on Monday in a notice to the public signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka.
The notice said the NCC had given partial approval for MTN to disconnect Globacom from its network.
“Globacom was informed of the application made by MTN and was given the chance to comment and defend its case.
“The Commission, after examining the application and the situation of the debt, decided that Globacom did not have enough or reasonable excuse for not paying the interconnect charges.
“The NCC also said that after 10 days from the date of this notice, “Globacom subscribers will not be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls.
“The partial disconnection, however, will allow out-bound calls from the Globacom network,” the notice said in part.
