Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Court of Appeal for nullifying his election.
Mutfwang said this while presenting his brief to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, where he listed eight points to prove the validity of his election. He said the Court of Appeal only considered one of these points and ignored the rest.
He also claimed that he was denied a fair hearing by the Appellate Court.
He said the Court of Appeal violated the directive of the Supreme Court that intermediate courts should address all the issues raised before them.
He urged the Supreme Court to uphold his election as the governor of Plateau State.
Mutfwang, who was represented by an eight-man team of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, led by Kanu Agabi, said “the law is settled that wherever there is a wrong, there must be a remedy.”
He said: “Eight issues were distilled and placed before the court below for determination. Unfortunately, only one issue (of jurisdiction) was determined by the court below leaving untouched seven issues.”
The governor maintained that since he was not given a fair hearing, the Supreme Court should overturn the judgment of the Court of Appeal that invalidated his election.
