Tenant remanded for assaulting landlord in Abuja

A tenant, Chris Okoye, 44, has been ordered to remain in custody by a Kabusa Grade I Area Court in Abuja for attacking his landlord.

The judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, made the order on Friday after hearing the defendant's plea.

The defendant, who resides at 2A Niger Avenue villa nova, Apo, is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation, force, assault and causing hurt.

He denied the charges against him.

The prosecutor, O.S. Osho, had earlier informed the court that the landlord, Mr Ochengele Isaac, lodged a complaint at the Apo Police Station on Jan. 3.

He said the defendant, along with his two children and Gideon, who are still at large, assaulted the landlord and injured him.

Osho said the defendant's two children and Gideon are still on the run.

Sadiq adjourned the case until Jan.16 for further hearing.
