In a significant development that sparked widespread celebration in the Ahoada area of Rivers State on Sunday night, reports emerged that a notorious cult leader, Gift Okpara, widely known as 2Baba, had been killed.
A senior police officer, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that 2Baba was struck multiple times during the operation.
While there has been no official confirmation of 2Baba's death during the operation, the communities in Ahoada have reportedly been celebrating following the news that the feared cult leader was believed to have been killed.
This development comes after a harrowing incident in September 2023, when a divisional police officer, Bako Angbashim, was ambushed and captured by a cult group allegedly led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, located in Ahoada East LGA.
Following his capture, 2Baba and his gang reportedly took Officer Angbashim to a forest, where they brutally killed him and dismembered his body.
