A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday at about 8.00am along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, resulting in the death of nine persons, including five males and four females.
The accident involved a truck with no registration number and a Mazda bus with registration number SMK808YD.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident. It was gathered that the accident happened at Kere Bridge and was caused by excessive speed and driving against traffic.
A total of 17 persons were reported to have been involved in the crash, leaving seven persons injured. The Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Anthony Uga, cautioned motorists on route violation and excessive speed.
Uga highlighted the dangers associated with these two critical offences and advised motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. This tragic incident underscores the importance of road safety and the dire consequences of traffic violations.
