Rainstorm Tragedy: One Dead, 200 Homes Damaged in Ita-Ogbolu

A devastating rainstorm has swept through the Ita-Ogbolu community in the Akure North local government area, resulting in the tragic loss of one life and causing extensive property damage. This is the second time this year that the community has been hit by such a storm.

The storm, which was of significant intensity, resulted in the destruction of over 200 houses. The scale of the disaster prompted a visit from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Saturday. The Governor took the time to inspect the damage and assured the affected residents that the government would provide assistance.

During his visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa also paid a visit to the residence of the woman who tragically lost her life in the storm. He expressed his sorrow over the loss of life and the extensive property damage. He said the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) was on ground to ensure succour gets to the victims.

“I want to sympathise with Kabiyesi and the people of Ita-Ogbolu on this unfortunate disaster. We thank God that it was not more than that. May God give the family of the one that lost her life the fortitude to bear the loss," the Governor said.

He further assured the community that the government has arrangements in place for such disasters and promised to take necessary actions once detailed reports are available.

The traditional ruler of the community, Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his concern and show of love during this difficult time.
