Bishop Akhalamhe, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship candidate in Edo, has announced Joyce Idubor as his running mate for the upcoming election on September 21. The announcement was made on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Benin.
Ms Idubor, a pastor and an educationist, was presented by Mr Akhalamhe during the event. He expressed that the decision to choose her was all-inclusive and had the agreement of party members. He further stated that the nomination of Ms Idubor was a reflection of the party's sensitivity towards gender representation.
In his words, “Today, I have picked a female deputy governorship candidate in the person of Dr Joyce Olamilayo Idubor. I believe she will add value to our ticket and the party." He appealed to women in the party and across the state to support them, stating that their collective effort can contribute to the development of the state.
Mr Akhalamhe expressed optimism about the future of Edo under their leadership. He said that the state would experience good governance when the party takes over the state’s leadership mantle. This announcement marks a significant step in the ZLP's campaign for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo.
