Osun Police Apprehend Four Cultists, Burglar

In a recent crackdown, the Osun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected to be members of the Eiye Confraternity. The suspects, identified as Adejumo Boluwatife, Adisa Lateef, Gbolahan Oladipupo, and Adeagbo Musibau, are all aged between 20 and 25. They have reportedly been causing terror among the residents of Osogbo, the state capital.

The arrests were carried out by the Anti-cultism Unit of the Command, which has been vigilant in curbing cult-related activities in the region.

In a separate incident, the Command also arrested a 32-year-old man, Ayomide David Popoola, on charges of burglary and theft. Popoola is alleged to have broken into an uncompleted four-bedroom flat at Plot 1, Block 13, Osun GRA, Gbongan Road, Osogbo, where he reportedly stole an electric cable.

The owner of the property, Akintola Adebisi Raifu, alerted the police about suspicious activity around his property. The police responded promptly, catching Popoola in the act of removing newly installed electric cables from the building. He was arrested, and a bag containing some of the stolen cables was recovered from him. However, other members of his gang managed to escape.

Yemisi Opalola, the Command spokesperson, confirmed the arrests. She stated that all the suspects would be charged to court following a thorough investigation.

She revealed that the four cultists were apprehended in the Idi-Omo Area of Osogbo, following a tip-off. "During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of Eiye Confraternity and they would soon be charged to court."

Regarding Popoola's case, Opalola mentioned that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate. She assured that Popoola would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
