The Abuja Aborigines Network (AAN), representing the original inhabitants of Abuja, has vehemently opposed the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August 1st.
Dr. Donald Amagbo, President of the 6,000-member strong Network, emphasized the need for dialogue instead of protests during a recent anti-protest town hall meeting convened by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja.
Amagbo, speaking on behalf of his Network members, expressed total condemnation of the planned protests, citing their potential to cause anarchy and render Nigeria ungovernable.
He pledged support for relevant agencies in maintaining peace and order in Abuja during the protest period, commending Wike for introducing reforms in the FCT Administration and transforming the nation's capital in less than 12 months.
Amagbo stated, "We hereby condemn in totality and are ready to resist the planned protest... Our investigations have confirmed that the protest is aimed at causing anarchy... We pledge to support security agencies to fish out all undesirable elements." He emphasized the need for dialogue, saying, "Yes, we also feel the pains, but dialogue should be the best way out... We don't want the ensuing unrest that will distract the FCT from the good work."
